Fiction
There has been a spate of novels published recently which are set partly, or wholly, on the Marsh. Of these, recommended are those by AJ Mackenzie, William Shaw and local writer Emma Batten.
Emma Batten
Emma Batten lives on the Marsh and places her characters within historical settings (which include the great storm of 1287 and the wreck of the Northfleet). Her book covers have distinctive original artwork by artists from Greatstone and New Romney.https://www.emmabattenauthor.com
AK MacKenzie
AJ MacKenzie is the pseudonym of Marilyn Livingstone and Morgen Witzel, a collaborative Anglo-Canadian husband-and-wife team of writers and historians who live in Devon. Their books include three set on the Romney Marsh.https://ajmackenzienovels.com
William Shaw
Most recently, the bestselling and nationally-acclaimed author William Shaw (described by no less an author than Peter May as a “superb storyteller”) has set the central character – DS Alexandra Cupidi – of a series of his books (four to date), “living “on the edge of the world in Dungeness Kent with her daughter Zoë, trying to hold down a job in the Kent Serious Crime unit.” These are highly recommended.http://williamshaw.com
